Stop Wishing

I’m trying to get back to a bit of speedgolf. And I keep catching myself thinking ‘I wish I had a membership so I could just play a couple of holes.’ I could drop some coin, but it’s late in the season and it feels like a waste, especially with the unknown outcome of my knee. So this morning I just brought a club and ball down to the park while I was running (more like a slow jog). I planned to hit a couple balls at some trees. Then something shifted. All of a sudden I saw a hundred yard shot. I saw the slopes. I saw the rough. I saw the whole course. Trees became targets. Light posts became flags. Bushes became hazards. That park had been sitting there the whole time. I just couldn’t see it while I was wishing for something else. When you stop wishing, you start seeing. What are you wishing for that’s already in front of you?
